ENGAGED!!

if you did not know from this post's title, MY GUY & I ARE ENGAGED!! i will officially be mrs. my guy on june 25, 2011!!

a week ago from today, my guy popped the question and i said "YES!!" very loud and proud!!

i know y'all are dying to hear the story, here it goes...

last wednesday, i left mcwork, hit NO traffic coming home on the eisenhower, cruised down lakeshore drive listening to bob marley with sunshine shining through my sunroof! in the meantime, my guy was picking up dinner from out favorite sushi spot, like we always do, so we could have a nice relaxing dinner on my rooftop, like we always do.

after parking fretta the jetta, i pranced into 1907 with my guy comfortably laid out on my couch waiting for me to arrive. he was dressed in his workout clothes and suggested i do the same, since we will probably go work out after we eat dinner, like we always do.

if you have not picked up on it yet, there are a lot of "like we always do." that is because i told my guy when he proposes i want to have no clue "it's" coming and be totally surprised! well, let's just say he was off to a perfect start!! i mean come on y'all i was dressed in a cubs t-shirt and nike running shorts with my hair in the messiest pony tail of my life, plus no makeup!!

after indulging into my favorite sushi rolls from tiparos, i immediately asked for my fortune cookie, like i always do. my guy handed me my fortune cookie to open, which he was doing the same. easy as pie, since i am a fortune cookie connoisseur, i unwrapped my cookie, cracked it in half and read my fortune. well, if you call it that. lately i have been getting more wisdom quotes than fortunes, which utterly disappoints me. so after reading it out loud, i blurted out, "my fortune is stupid...go figure..."

in the meantime, my guy was sure having a hard unwrapping his fortune cookie, unlike him. he was actually getting flustered. so like i always do, i asked if he needed help and immediately he replied, "no, no, i can do it." like he always does. finally he opened his cookie, read his fortune, chuckled and asked, "here, read my fortune..."

on crisp, white paper in black times roman numeral font read, "will you marry me lizzy b?"

without hesitation, i loudly and proudly announced "WELL YES!!" then i took a step back and was in total surprise mode because this was the real deal and i had no idea!!

my guy got down on one knee and slid the most beautiful, unique, one-of-a-kind engagement ring on my finger, designed by erin gallagher.

after a million phones calls filled with happy tears and giggly laughs, my guy had already planned for our windy city friends to meet us out at our favorite bar, halsted harp, to celebrate our engagement!! we had a blast to say the least.

i have definitely enjoyed basking in the light of being engaged. friends and family upon friends and family have called, texted and blessed us with sweet messages and wishes. we could not be two happier peas in a pod.

as you know, i already have a new blog title for when we become mr. & mrs. my guy. but that ladies and gentleman will be revealed after we say i do...
