STAY-cation 2010

last weekend, my guy and i had our first STAY-cation! now you may ask, what constitutes a STAY-cation. to be able to consider your vacation a STAY-cation, you must follow theses rules...
  • cannot stay at your main address where you reside
  • cannot fly or drive more than 50 miles to your STAY-cation location
  • you have to be a total tourist for the duration of your STAY-cation

so that is what we did! we packed small overnight bags, loaded our bikes on the back of fretta the jetta and drove 22.6 miles to the hyatt lodge in oak brook, which is convienently a stones throw from mcwork. i actually planned this STAY-cation weekend to thank my guy for e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g he did during my big move to 1907, but why not officially coin the weekend.

during the day on saturday, we had lunch at my favorite cafe in oak brook, labriola bakery & cafe, then checked-in to our room and headed straight to the spa. we both were pampered with massages and of course, i threw in a little extra for me and got a spa mani/pedi. note: i have found my new favorite summer nail polish, opi's lucky lucky lavender!

saturday night, we had dinner at the grotto with the little family. i was able to thank mr. little for being the best god-father a god-daughter could ask for and my guy was able to spend some quality time with the entire little family!

sunday, we ordered room service for breakfast then lounged at the hotel pool. we had intended to just relax, but i got a wild hair and challenged my guy to a 25-meter freestyle race. i totally thought i could beat him, but he sure showed me up!
after we checked-out of the hotel, my guy and i biked for three hours all around the oak brook area.

after our marathon bike ride, we headed back to our home sweet home in the windy city. we ended the weekend with a mouth-watering dinner, bbq chicken and roasted veggies with shrimp!
my guy has been inspired to organize the next STAY-cation in the city. i cannot wait for our first CHI-cation 2010!

our wine & cheese amenity from my friends at the hyatt lodge!

our only picture from STAY-cation 2010! oh well, there is always next time!
