thursday, we had dinner at gemini bistro in lincoln park then saw the night light city sights from the 96th floor of the hancock building.
during the day on friday, while my guy and i were hard at work, b-go and marshman took in all of chicago while the weather was in full spring swing. friday night, the four of us headed to the united center to watch the chicago bulls try to put a beat down on lebron and the cleveland cavaliers. like most chicago sporting events, the bulls tried their hardest to push through to victory, but ended up disappointing the loyal fans of chi-town. we then fought the freezing cold trying to wave down a taxi for a solid 20 minutes in 30 degree weather on the verge of the big snowstorm headed our way saturday. to top off the night, we had a big time at uberstein in wrigleyville enjoying the shotski and german beer upon german beer.
as for saturday, once i woke up to a whiteout, meaning the city was being covered in a blanket of white snow and did not let up all day. my guy and i had a lazy day of movies and reruns of curb your enthusiasm. later on saturday, my guy and i met up with d-dubb, my guy's roommate, who invited us to have dinner at carmines with his sweet mother and darling dad. note to all who are thinking about a trip to carmines, you must order the eggplant salad!! saturday night was a combo of fun. we first met up with b-go, marshman and the nashville newlyweds at zocalo, a hip and trendy but tasty mexican restaurant in river north. another note to all, you must sip on their red sangria!! we then headed to cochran's in old town for a beer or two or maybe six. my guy, d-dubb and i closed it down, drinking leftover st. patty's day green beer after green beer. i must say though, green beer was so st. patty's day. the thought of me drinking green draft beer did turn my weak little stomach a tad bit. i mean really, why do you still have green beer...hmm...
today, we wrapped up b-go and marshman's trip with brunch lunch at rockit bar in wrigleyville. a strawberry mimosa and truffle fries were definitely the perfect cure for my late night chi-nanigans. following our brunch lunch with b-go and marshman, we said our goodbyes and wished them safe travels.
it is always fun showing off this wonderful city. especially when it's with great friends!
