happy fall ya'll

so today was the first morning i heard myself say, "dang, it's cold!" when i got out of my car in my company parking lot. i looked around and sure enough, it is fall in chicago! the trees are all the beautiful fall colors: burnt oranges, apple greens, pear yellows and ruby reds. it is such a sight to see against the cotton ball clouds in the crisp blue sky.

not only does the temperature and the colors make me welcome the fall, but so does the time. now what i mean by time is when i drive into work everyday, mr. sunshine is still asleep. it is totally weird! i get in my car and start the engine, and my headlights turn on. i go through the tunnel on the kennedy (I 90-94), and the tunnel lights are brighter than sunshine. reality check! the darkness will only last longer and the sunshine will be on the slimside.

living in the south, i never noticed the contrast between dark and light. maybe it was because i was closer to the equator or because i never started my day when it was dark. probably guess two.

so in celebration of fall, i have hung an adorable wooden-carved "boo!" sign on our apartment door and placed a candy dish, which has been empty and removed (thanks to one of j-to-the-j's cleaning frenzies). also, i hope that next week, j-to-the-j, d-law and i will go pick out pumpkins to carve. the taste of roasted pumpkin seeds and a happy candle-lit pumpkin always puts me in the fall mood!
