it's milwaukee time

this past weekend, i spent a wonderful weekend with my fellow winter warrior, whitty, in the beautiful state of wisconsin! whitty has been in milwaukee for job training for the past six months, and this past weekend was the first weekend our schedules aligned.

the drive was a breeze. straight up I-94 to milwaukee, about an hour and half to two hours, depending on that gosh darn milwaukee rush hour traffic...pahhhlease people, just try chicago at 6:45 a.m. every morning..that will give you something to complain about..

whitty and i spent friday night at a cutsy lounge restaurant, elsa's on the park. they adore every cocktail with a star-cut lemon. cute enough to take a picture, which i did! for dinner, i ordered their famous fancy grilled cheese. how could i go to wisconsin and not enjoy the fruits of their labor! it was absolutely delishy! of course, i had my ketchup for dipping (that was for you mr. right..) later on, whitty and i went back to her apartment and caught up on each other's lives for the past six months.

whitty and i both have a lot in common, but one thing we both love is sleep! since we both work long weeks for our jobs, saturdays and sundays are our only days to sleep in. that is exactly what we did! after sleeping in saturday, whitty and i got ready and had lunch at her favorite coffee house then took the infamous miller brewery tour, where it's always miller time. props to miller because the tour is free and you get to taste three beers at the end of the tour. plus, you get to send postcards to whoev you want..get excited people, you may get a surprise soon in the mail!!

following our miller time experience, we ventured to an upbeat cuban restaurant, cubunitas, where we carried over our libation tasting and enjoyed authetic cuban food. i totally recommend ordering a cuban sandwich! very yumm!

saturday night, we had a typical "whitty and lizzie night." we had a dessert run to get some famous wisconsin custard. i gave myself a pat on the back for having self-control and obeying lent by enjoying butterscotch custard instead of reese's peanut butter custard. believe i contemplated for about 30 minutes. getting back to whitty's apt, we watched back to back movies. twilight was first..watch it. enough said. i am now going to start reading the series! then we snuggled into bed and watched my best friend's wedding.

on sunday, we had brunch at the milwaukee museum of art. their green eggs and ham are the just like dr.suess would like them; i totally recommend pesto on your scrambled eggs! we then took a tour of MAM with the willy wonka of art museums. what a unique art museum. the design is one of a kind and the museum is a perfect mix of local and international donors, american and european art, women and men artists. i fell in love with the nooks and crannies of this place.

before i knew it, i was on the road back to my love, chicago! i definitely made a stop at the prime outlets, where i picked up a couple of pieces to add to my mcwork wardrobe and of course, summer stuff.

i am so thankful for whitty. she is one of my closest friends from my sorority and a friend i will have throughout life. she is a friend that i can have an amazing time with just drinking a good glass of vino and talking about the little things in life.

thanks whitty for an magnificent weekend in milwaukee! i love you to the maxx!
