trust

every morning after checking my work email, i log into my gmail desktop. i have many applications that fill my page (i.e. gchat, gmail, italian word of the day, weather in chi and home, youtube and my daily devotional.

throughout my eight months at mccompany, i have selected a few devotionals that i copy and pasted to print out for my desk. i like keeping these devotionals in clear sight for those days when i just need to hear the good word of the Lord. one of last week's devotions really sank into me. it was about completely letting go of the difficult times and trusting God to help you through them. i have posted the devotional below. i encourage you to print it out and keep it in a place that you will see it at least once a day.

Sigh of Relief
Psalm 62:8 NIV: Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah

It is often at the conclusion of a difficult time that we breathe a long awaited sigh of relief. Yet it is something that we never need experience. Within a difficult time, we have the privilege to take the matter to the Lord and leave it with Him. Easy as that is to say, it is often hard to do. We go to God, pray to Him, entrust a matter to His capable hands; and once a little time passes, we find ourselves taking the matter again into our own hands. But God is faithful, and patient, and gracious. He will continue to provide us the direction we need and teach us to rely on Him more with each passing trial. In time, perhaps we will learn the lesson He so desires us to learn and that is that we can entrust something to Him, find His peace in that very moment, and not have to hold our breath until the trial has came to an end.
