just a walk in the park

yesterday was a very rare winter day in the windy city. it was sunny! sad to say, but most days are cloudy and grey. i have gone an entire seven days without wearing my sunglasses. shocker... in celebration of the sunny skies, mr.right and i took a stroll around downtown.

our first stop was the ralph lauren restaurant. it was a new taste for the both of us. i ordered a fabulous asparagus quiche and mimosa (in celebration of course!). the atmosphere was very ralph lauren. dark mahogany wood paneling with navy textured walls adorned with hanging pieces of art. mr.right mentioned a time or two, "this is just so me", meaning him of course being the polo pusher he is as i sat back and smiled graciously agreeing with his very true survey of the surroundings.

next stop was a quick return at water tower place then onto the hershey factory where we picked up to cups of cocoa for the long walk to millennium park. i mean even though it is sunny, do not let that fool you. the temperature was still ten degrees.

at our stop in millennium park, we had a photoshoot in front of "the bean," or formal titled "cloud gate," by the architect who designed this monstrous piece of metal mirror that is in the shape of an actual bean. mr.right and i were lucky enough to have a group of generous foreigners from multiple famous cities across the world bargain for us to take their picture in return they would take ours in front of the bean. as a matter of a fact, my new facebook picture will be of me being silly me in front of the bean all bundled up.

our last stop was the start of mr.right's apartment hunt, just in case he is offered a full-time job at the hotel he is currently at taking up residence. we toured the historic "fisher building" in the loop. fisher is an antique building among many in downtown chi. it is very quaint. the doors to each flat have office titles from back in the day when used for a variety of establishments in the city; however, mr.right wasn't that serious about the apartment since he did not run the shower to see how efficient the water pressure is in the flat. this is something he informed me about his ideal apartment must have good water pressure.

the sky started turning a navy blue with stars beginning to dance around the moon. not to mention the temperature gradually dropping near zero. note to self: time to take it to the hotel.

my rendition to chicago's "saturday in the park," goes a little something like this...

sunday, in the park,
i think it was winter time.
sunday, in the park,
i think the temperature was nine.
people ice skating, people picture taking,
a homeless man begging for change...
praising barack obama.
can you bear the weather...yes, I can!
and i've been waiting such a long time,
for sunny day!
