heat wave

i was a five year old eagerly awaiting a trip to the play ground on saturday. that is how i describe my disposition this weekend due to the extremely warm (64 degrees to be exact) and sunshinie weather. i could not help running to the door to get outside, where i then preceded to yell at the top of my lungs, "it is so beautiful today!" yes, i was amongst the chicagoans that too wanted to enjoy this unusually warm winter day. the weather reminded me of a fall saturday in the south, when tailgating is at its prime.

mr.right and i walked from my apartment in lincoln park to his hotel across the river downtown. it was about a two and half mile walk winding through the fun neighborhoods of lincoln park, old town, gold coast, river east and the very southern edges of rivernorth. the streets looked like the great flood hit chicago with all of the snow melting away and gushing into the sewers. tourists and locals were smiling ear to ear taking in the sunshine and enjoying this picture perfect day.

even though the walk took a good hour and half, it was well worth it not having to wear a coat or snow boots.

after making a stop at mr.right's home-for-now, we then ventured to river east to buy tickets for my girl's night out with mrs. (fyi: even though we ended up getting a raincheck for not getting a seat to see "he's just not that into you," that night, we did enjoy a fun dinner at ben pao, a local asian-inspired restaurant.)

after the movie theater stop, mr.right and i adventured into little shops along the way to meet up with mr. and mrs. one being a new and used book store where i bought the best book buy of my life (right next to my purchase of elizabeth gilbert's "eat, pray, love"..read it if you have not read it yet..) the book is titled "walking chicago." it tours the reader on 31 walks in and around the city in all the unique and non-touristy spots to see within each neighborhood.

a long day of walking. a warm day of enjoying. another day to go down in the record books.
